There is a rapid transition from industrial society to information society in today’s world economies. This transition is mainly based on the developments and expansion in new technologies and adoption efforts of countries to these technologies. Improvements in information and communication technologies have become the main determinants of development level of societies.Innovations in information and communication technologies cause developments in globalisation. As a result of globalisation, these new technologies have an effect on social an economic life in many ways.This period is explained by knowledge economies. Knowledge economy is assumed as a kind of stage that developped counries have taken the oppotunity of it. To evaluate the country performances in knowledge economies, various variables are used about information society. The aim of this study is to compare the information society variables of Turkey and EU Countries for the 2000-2013 period. When the comparison is evaluated, it is obvious that Turkey follows EU Countries from a very low rank.
