Mehmed Celâl is one of the important artists of the transition period, which is expressed with the concept of ‘intergeneration’ in our literary history. There are also literary criticisms of the artist who has lots of works in the genre of poetry, novels and stories. However, Mehmed Celâl is better known for his poetry. In this study, the reason for focusing on a novel of Mehmed Celâl is to analyze the lesser-known prose. For his reason, the work of the artist which has not yet been translated into the Latin alphabet has been selected. To analyze this work entitled Elvâh-? Sevdâ, firstly explanations about the "intergeneration" were made and then the author and the work were introduced. As a result of the analysis of the elements of the work, such as plot, staff, time, place, point of view, language and style, it was determined that Mehmed Celâl wrote a novel with thesis. This situation is a necessity of Mehmed Celâl’s moral attribution to the novel and it is the dimension of the work that provides the partnership with our Tanzimat period novels.
