EXAMINATION OF THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE NEEDS OF MOTHERS WITH DISABLED CHILDREN (EXAMPLE OF KONYA REGION)

This study was carried out to determine the family needs of mothers with disabled children and to investigate the relationship between the mother's demographic characteristics and these needs. The sample of the study consisted of 122 mothers with disabled children from the special education and rehabilitation center which was selected by the cluster sampling method from Selcuklu district of Konya in 2017. The data of the study were obtained by using ”Family Needs Assessment Tool”. According to the findings of the study, the need score of the sample group is moderate. In addition, the needs of mothers with disabled children were related to their educational level, their family income, the number of children they had, their economic support from the state, and their individual help from their relatives in child care. As a result of the research, suggestions have been developed in the context of child development and social services
