In the present Phenomenological study, the views of classroom teachers on historical consciousness were examined. The study group consists of twenty 4th-grade teachers serving in Central A?r?. In the present study, the semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool. As a result of the study, it was found that the participants had mostly desirable levels of knowledge regarding historical consciousness. However, deficiencies were detected in the participants' theoretical knowledge regarding chronology, the cognitive dimension of historical consciousness. Additionally, the participants found the primary social studies textbook to be inadequate in some aspects. According to the participating teachers, the heroes of the national struggle and children's games were not sufficiently included in the textbook. On the other hand, the participants stated that traditional children's games were an important tool in establishing historical consciousness. The participants also emphasized the factors of "culture" and "awareness" in the effectiveness of traditional children's games.
