Cultural differences have begun to take place at the center of people's lives with the influence of globalization. This situation obliged individuals to communicate with people who are from different cultures and also to sustain this communication. In order to communicate correctly and effectively with people from different cultures, it is important to have intercultural competence (communication). At this point, besides having knowledge about different cultures, it is necessary to understand and respond people who are from that culture with this mentality. Therefore, the intercultural empathy is the most important component of the interpersonal competence. In this paper, the notions of intercultural empathy, intercultural sensitivity and intercultural awareness are explained with the stages of these concepts for the development of intercultural empathy. In addition to this, the articles on the concept of intercultural empathy which were published between 1997 and 2017 in WoS and Scopus have been examined by using the content analysis method. At the end of the research, the articles were evaluated with the descriptive statistics in categories as the usage of intercultural empathy notion, the subjects of the researches, the methods of the researches and so on
