The continuity which began with the reforms of the Tanzimat era, aimed to westernize the Ottoman State’s political, social and economical structure. Within this process some governmental arrangements were actualized in the Ottoman State. This new management system brought along some new construction styles. The government office buildings which started to be constructed from 19th century onwards were the building types which this new system required. Numerous public buildings in the rural areas/ta?ra were constructed from the Tanzimat era to the Republic Period. Among these buildings, the government office buildings which were aiming to exhibit the strength of the state in every region of the country, gained a great importance. In this paper, the government office buildings in Trabzon, Orta Hisar region and the establishment of these buildings are tried to be presented under the light of some documents kept in the Ottoman State Archive.
