Airports are frequently exposed to terrorist attacks due to their global location and intensive use. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the security measures that should be taken against possible terrorist attacks in airport planning. Within the scope of the study, technological systems, advanced building materials and architectural design criteria that should be selected as a safety measure in planning are mentioned. As a method, the planning and architectural design criteria of airports were determined by using academic studies and guides, and a general framework of the subject was created with the SWOT method. In terms of airport planning and architectural design criteria, the strengths and weaknesses of the subject, opportunities and threats are revealed. As a result, airport planning against terrorist attacks should be evaluated as a whole with its environment. The measures taken only on the basis of the structure are insufficient against possible attacks. Flexibility and adaptability should be the primary principles in planning an airport. Passenger areas should be separated from risky areas; materials that are resistant to possible explosions and flexible should be preferred; building orientation and land selection should be arranged in such a way as to create a precaution against possible attacks.
