This study was conducted to determine home accidents and applications that performed to protect children by mothers as sectional-descriptive. Total 250 voluntary mothers of 0-6 aged children who applied to 4 health centers in city center because of any problem between 06.11.2011- 15.03.2012 were recruited to the study. Before the study, consent from institution and mothers verbal consents were also taken. A questionnaire form and Scale for Identification by Mothers of the Safety Measures Taken by Mothers to Prevent Home Accidents in Children in the 0-6 Age Group were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage), Kruskal-Wallis (KW), Mann- Whitney U tests were used to evaluate data. Mothers included in the study; 34.8% were in 25-29 age group, and 44.0% had 2 children. It is found that of the children; 21.6% were 25-36 months, 51.2% were girl, 96.8% had a home accident and the most common accident was fall (46.3%). It is determined that children had accident mostly in living room (38.4%), and mothers of 56.6% of them took their children to hospital. Scores mean of mothers was 161.28±23.28. Scale score median levels of mothers graduated from high college and had nuclear family (p<0.05). As a result of the study, planned education and counseling on preventing mothers' accidents is recommended.
