Humour and irony are a way of expressing an artist's subtle relevance and or style to the world. Thanks to humour and irony, it is possible to determine the sensitivities of the artist with regards to the issues he / she is particularly disturbed with, and how he/she looks at people, society and life in general. One of the most emphasized aspects of the poetry of Ülkü Tamer, one of the second new poets of his time, was the subtle demonstration of humour and irony in his poetry. However, this style has only been emphasized but not examined to a greater extent and details. In this article therefore, the concepts of humour and irony have been painstakingly tried to be examined and explained, revealing with reference to the poems of Ülkü Tamer been also looked at critically with stated examples. With clearer clarification centred on aspects of humour and irony in his poetry, Tamer's sensitivities about human, society and life were also determined to an extent.
