While shaping society, at the same time, the human being shaped by society, establishes the existential meaning in the process. This historicity of a person who is a historical entity is a dynamic process that is shaped by the make on doing in time and mutual interaction. Human beings are inclined to participate in the values judgments of the society they are in, their behaviour patterns, and the participation of any kind of norm that constitutes that society. This tendency contributes to the process of socialization, which leads to the formation of social ties in a society. The concept of identity in all its dimensions emerges as a result of this process of socialization. Thus, the individual is bound to the existing norms of the society the individual is in. The individual connected to the society's reference system begins to build collective identity, a system of values over time, nourished by the legacy of tradition. There is a mutual relationship between literature and identification processes. The novel, which started to develop as a literary genre in the Tanzimat period and is the narrative of the modern world, reflects the changing social dynamics on the one hand, and on the other hand it supports the change in the social structure. This mutual interaction can be explained by the fact that the literature is called the novel, which is fed from the cultural background of the society. In this study, the identity that holds an important place in the Kara Kitap will be dealt with in two main ways as the problematic, the quest for individual identity and the search for social identity. Searching for individual identity; self-diving, the problem of self-existence and the concept of the other. The search for social identity will be dealt with through the concept of collective consciousness values, the influence of the philosophy of enlightenment and the influence of modern philosophy on society, the EastWest conflict and alienation.
