Church books contain edicts on the repair and extension of religious or charity buildings such as churches, synagogues, cemeteries and schools. These books contain important information about the freedom non-muslims living within the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire enjoyed in practicing their religious and educational rights and their demographic structures. The Ottoman Archives of the Prime Ministry comprise ten church books which contain records between 1456 and 1922. In this study, the church book 8 is indexed and intoduced, placing an emphasis on the importance of church books in general.
