INVESTIGATION OF ATTITUDES OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT LIFETIME LEARNING TENDENCIES AND BOOK READING HABITS

Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of students of Vocational School of Health Services about lifelong learning tendencies and reading habits in terms of various variables. In the data collection of the research, easy sampling method which is one of the descriptive scanning models was used. The sample of the study consists of a total of 523 students (407 females and 116 males) studying at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Vocational School in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic year. The data used in the research were applied by er “Lifelong Learning Tendency Scale” (LLTS) consisting of 27 items and four factors developed by Diker (2009) and “Attitude Scale for Reading Habits” (ASRH) which consisted of 30 items and six factors developed by Gömleksiz (2004) obtained. The total reliability of the lifelong learning disposition scale was .91, in this study .90; The total reliability of the attitude scale related to reading habits was .88 and in this study .92. Arithmetic mean, percentage, independent groups T-test, ANOVA and TUKEY analysis techniques were used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. It was found that the mean scores of the students' LLTS scale differed significantly according to gender, grade level, teaching type and branch variables; It was found that the mean scores of the ASRH scale differed significantly according to gender and branch variables, and there was a positive moderate correlation between the LLSS and the ASRH scale.
