The current study aims to systematically investigate the experimental studies (training, therapy) on emotion regulation with the non-clinical population and to reveal the research trend in this regard. PRISMA guide was used for this systematic review. The literature review was conducted on five electronic databases (Web of Science, Taylor and Francis, Science Direct, Sage Journals Online, Ulakbim) without applying year filter. The search was conducted in April, 2019 by using the combination of various keywords in both English and Turkish (emotion regulation training, emotion regulation program, improving emotion regulation, emotion regulation and therapy, emotion regulation and psycho-education). Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 29 articles were included in the study. These articles were reviewed in terms of year, country, developmental stages of the participants and their demographics, theoretical approach on which the intervention was based, number of the groups in the studies, number of the participants in the experimental groups, type of the interventions used for the experimental groups, effectiveness of the interventions, number and duration of the sessions, and instrumental variables used to measure emotion regulation. The findings of the study indicated that the studies were mostly conducted between the years of 2015 and 2019 with generally the participants who are in the periods of young adulthood and adulthood. The interventions in the reviewed experimental studies were more frequently based on the dialectical behavior therapy. It was also revealed that the more frequently applied intervention type is training with groups, the more frequent number of sessions is between 7 and 9, and the duration of sessions is generally between 106 and 135 minutes. Another finding was that the number of the participants in the experimental groups was generally in the range of 27 and 32. The findings were discussed based on the relevant literature.
