The aim of this research is to measure the perceiving level of emotional abuse by the elderly over the age of 60 who are living in Cank?r? Ismail Ozdemir Nursing Home and Ilgaz Hac? Mustafa Akbak Nursing Home. Descriptive analysis was used in the research designed as a quantitative research. 80 elderly who were selected by appropriate sampling method, participate the study with probable sampling methods In addition, elderly who are able to perceive and respond to inquiries, have participated in the framework of volunteerism. The data were collected between January 2017 and April 2017. The data of the study were obtained by using the "Sociodemographic Characteristics Form" developed by the researcher and "Perceived Emotional Abuse Scale for Adults" developed by Ersanl? and his friends (2013). The data were evaluated by using the 23rd version of the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) package program. The obtained data were tested by one-way analysis of variance, t test, chi-square and correlation analysis. The levels of emotional abuse level of the elderly participating in the research were examined. Depending on variables such as socio-demographic characteristics, length of stay in the nursing home, having chronic illnesses and meeting daily needs, the relationship between the level of emotional abuse that the elderly perceive have been researched. It was understood that the majority of the elderly participating in the survey were exposed to a moderate level of emotional abuse. It was found that elderly people with a good income situation were more exposed to emotional abuse than other elderly people. It was understood that the majority of individuals with high level of emotional abuse perceived by the participating individuals were divorced individuals (74.1%). In addition, it was determined that more than half of the individuals with high levels of emotional abuse (66,7%) were not visited by their children and their relatives during the period of nursing care.
