INVESTIGATION OF PRESENTEEISM IN TERMS OF WORK COMMITMENT: A SURVEY ON TEACHERS

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between work commitment and presenteeism. In the literature studies indicate that presenteeism is one of the factor affecting the productivity in the labor force. Presenteeism is emerging as a hidden cost items in the case of business. It is known that business have eliminated productivity losses in terms of sustainability. However, there are not many investigating the presenteeism and causes of presenteeism behavior. Employee involvement is tought to be an explanatory behavior of presenteeism. With in scope, it is aimed to explain the issue by taking into account the work commitment and demographic variables of the employees. The participants of the study are total of 204 teachers working in primary and secondary schools ?stanbul. The findings of the study indicate that work commitment is positively related to presenteeism.
