The aim of this study is to examine the effect of sports on depression. The pre-test post-test was conducted as a quasiexperimental research with experimental-control groups in the study. The universe of the research consists of individuals participating in sports activities in Ba?c?lar Olympic Sports Hall located in Ba?c?lar district of Istanbul province. The working group consists of 80 participants in the gym. 40 participants who voluntarily participated in the study were assigned to the experimental group and 40 participants to the control group. In order to reach the socio-demographic data of the athletes included in the study, the personal information form created by the researcher and the Beck Depression Inventory were used. In this study, SPSS 25 program was used for data analysis. In addition to descriptive statistics, the parametric t-test and dependent sample t-tests were used to measure the effect of sports on depression. According to the analysis results, it was found that the pre-test mean scores of the participants in the experimental group were higher than the post-test mean scores. No significant difference was found in the pre-test average scores of the participants in the control group, on the other hand, in the post-test average scores. These results represent that sports activities positively reduce the depression levels of the participants.
