KEY FEATURES OF THE FIRST PERIOD (1700-1917) OF RUSSIAN TURKOLOGY

The aim of this article is to analyze the first period of the Russian Turcology and focus on the key features. The History of Russian Turcology can be studied in three main periods: 1. The period from its foundation in the Czardom period to the year 1917. 2. The Soviet period between 1917-1991. 3. The Period of Russian Federation in post 1991 era. Russia was the most effective and the richest centre of Turcology especially between the years 1857-1991. The key features of the first period Russian Turcology are: Turcology had been a state policy in Russia. Russian Turcology avail itself of linguistic sand other social as well as technical sciences. It adopted a multilingual research and publication concept (Russian, Latin, French, German, Englishetc.). Most of there searchers based their researches explicitly on religious. e. Christian Orthodox and Russian state strategy. Russian Turcology has published many researches and various publications on the fields of language, literatüre, history, etc. Of all Turkic people in the world. Research and publication policy of Russian Turcology has been a long lasting one. It has closely kept track of Turcology studies in other countries. It is almost impossible to carry out efficient and competent academic studies in all fields of Turcology, Orkhon Turkic, surviving Turkic written languages and dialects without consulting Russian source sand Russian Turcology
