This study aims to be able to provide data for the provision of a perspective, a train of thought, a mode of utilization for the conception of Civil Engineering and Construction Programmes as fields of scientific study in Turkey. In line with this purpose, the approach taken by the instructors of the Civil Engineering and Construction Programme at Ondokuz May?s University to the use of Turkish as the language of scientific study was studied. How these professionals evaluate Turkish as a language of scientific study was assessed through a survey encompassing these three perspectives. The findings were that: though professionals in both departments would have wanted to use Turkish for scientific study purposes due to the fact that they have become used to using foreign terminolgy and the fact that borrowed terminology has been accepted in their milieu they were not able to use their native language to the extent that they wished. All participants in the survey agreed that Turkish should be used as the language of instruction and it should be enriched and more widely used as the language of scientific study in their discipline.
