Actually, in our cultural universe we have two different Nasrettin Hodja who “lives” and “keeps living” too. Therefore, studying about Nasrettin Hodja and his anecdotes, this situation needs to be taken into consideration and also methodology should be constituted in accordance with this essence. In other words, literary historian and cultural-scientist study about different Nasrettin Hodjas, so they should adopt different methods of approach. Anecdotes are really popular oral genres in the society because of their structural and functional features. A hero whose typological features are known and loved by the society also increases the popularity of this oral genre. In this context, Nasrettin Hodja anecdotes, while criticising the dissonant people and negative attitudes in the society, display the leading qualities of Turkish identity
