The term of “new religious movement/s” (NRMs) generally refer to religious trends appeared in second half of 20th century. They generally tend to be so small or last for so short a time that they attracted litle or no attention. Hovewer, yet almost every one has read articles or watch television shows about these groups. In our increasingly secularized and supposedly rational societies our curiosity is peaked by the intense and seemingly peculiar beliefs and practices of the minority of people who choose and recommend such alternative worldviews and their accompanying lifestyles. There are a lot of books and articles in the West, which is written to understand and explain NRMs. As for our country, we see a lot of research has been especially put forth over the last decade. By this bibliographical essay we aim to determine the studies written both in Turkey and the West, and to provide the literature data for readers and researchers who interest in NRMs, and in this way to open the gate for new studies.
