The work that is shortly known as I‘lâmu’l-muvakk?‘în was compiled by Ibn Kayyim el-Cevziyye (d. 751/1350). It has a special place among other works of him in terms of its content and style. The debates on his name and subject matter indicate the recognition. When his own declaration together with his student Safedi’s (d. 764/1363) statement are considered, the name Me‘âlimu’l-muvakk?‘în ‘an Rabbi’l-‘âlemîn can be preferred. The reason of the work that is seemed as the Islamic jurisprudence, can be defined as the fatwa. Since it has enormous information on fatwa, jurisprudence and the procedure, and the consideration of other subjects within the context of the fatwa and the procedure confirm that assumption. In addition to the fatwa procedure to be considered together with many problems of the Islamic jurisprudence has resulted with the difficulty to limit it with a single subject matter. Despite the discussions within the context of its subject, the work is original with the diversity of the knowledge it contains, their specifications, transition and assessment. The recognition and value of the work among the scholarships are also support such consideration.
