Male identities with their traditional roles in context of social gender have been dealt with in many works in the art of painting. Male image in the art of painting bears the characteristic of being an image dealt with its traditional roles in terms of gender up to around 1960s. In this process the so-called image was generally depicted by the artists with the male dominant viewpoint and with its traditional roles in context of gender, and therefore took place in paintings according to the age they belong and with their peculiar ways of expression. In this study with its traditional roles in the works of artists from different terms the male image being pictorial main pattern was handled and scrutinized. The aim of the study is draw attention to the male image as well as female image and beside this, emphasize the importance and place of different identities of man with their traditional roles in terms of gender with reference to the artists dealing with the man image in the art of painting. In the study, the works of four artists in total were evaluated in the context of the subject.
