Although it is impossible to state exact date of its emergence, marriage is a long-standing institution in the history of humanity. Marriage has been subjected to many changes throughout its long history, with different meanings and different definitions. Marriage, which has not always existed in the present meaning of "emotion," has been shaped by the influence of the economic, political, religious and cultural spheres of the period, and has continued its existence in parallel with the changes in these areas. For this reason, marriage sometimes regarded as an undesirable and unheeded institution in history, but sometimes it was seen as a necessity, which was insisted upon. The shaping of marriage according to the dominant interests of the period and the view of social period as the best way of transferring the marriage has brought the marriage out of selfhood and brought the pressure of marriage together. Throughout history, many people have been forced to have unwanted marriages and are not allowed to live their lives. The underlying causes of marriage pressure can be examined separately under the economic, political, religious and cultural spheres of the period that shaped the attitude towards marriage. This study still looks at the causes of today's marriage pressures, which are still present in various forms. In the study, the emphasis was placed on women who were thought to be the most exposed parties to this pressure.
