It is a well-known fact that in almost all religious traditions believer shaves acrificed for the sake of their beliefs. For saking personal pleasures and suffering in many forms have especially been more noticeable in Abrahamic traditions. History, records many individuals who have sacrificed their lives to uphold what ever they hold as sacred. In religious literature and popular perception, a martyr is a person who has sacrificed his/her life only for the good pleasure of God. Life is second to none for a person to sacrifice what ever there ason may be; thus martyrdom is certainly an important religious concept worth research. Martyrdom is not a concept unique to Islam; it is present in Christian traditions and is a theme that is frequently referred in scriptures. This paper analyses the Qur’an and the New Testament to explore the martyrdom phenomenon in Islam and Christianity, respectively.
