A development at the field of science and technology has brought about either negative outcomes or positive outcomes in education. While the positive outcomes become advantage for societies, it must not be forgotten that the negative outcomes result in damage in culture and social life. It is obligatory to bring up individuals with equipped with universal values by centering national values. Therefore, stories must be focused in teaching those values effectively. Specifically, utilizing our cultural heritage due to reflecting Turkish society produces positive results. This study was conducted to discover effect of the Mesnevi in teaching hospitability in the 4th grade social studies curriculum. The research sample consists of 18 students studying 4th grade in Yunus Emre Primary School in Kayseri City. Two stories on hospitability in the Mesnevi were employed. As a result of the study, it was determined that the stories in the Mesnevi were effective and through the stories it was observed that the students could differentiate guest is not limited to the people visiting our home.
