Initial mining activities in Bozk?r were carried out in the 16th century. The second period of mining was in the last quarter of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. The Bozk?r mine was started to run first in 1776. The mine was closed down in 1785 due to shortage of the ores. It was reopened in 1787 because of the high demand by the miners. One of the reasons for reopening of the mine was the purpose of alleviating the suffering of the townspeople. While the mine was continuing its operations, there was an administrative change in 1793. The Bereketli mine was merged with the Bozk?r mine. This continued until 1796, and ended by appointment of two separate custodians for the mines. An official named Polini carried out some research in mines. Polini also studied the Bozk?r mine. After he reported that the ores in the Bozk?r mine were insufficient and costly to extract, the mine was closed in the year 1839.
