Literary debatesare verse and prose works in which different entities or concepts argue todetermine who/whichis superior. Every entity which is alive, lifeless, tangible or intangible has been the subject of the literary debates.In our literary debates cannabis, wine and other pleasurable substances are among the most repetitive topics. This article focuses on mükeyyifat (pleasure-inducing substances)debates in which pleasure-inducing substancesargue among themselves to determine who/whichis superior. In this context eleven mukeyyifat debates(Yusuf Emirî’s Beng ü Ça??r, Fuzûlî’s Beng ü Bâde, Nidâî’s Mübâhasât-? Mükeyyifât, Anonymous Esrâr-nâme, Na?zî’s Mecâlisü’n-Nâfi, Vardarl? Fazlî’s Mahzenü’l-Esrâr, Anonymous Leiden MS Or. 25721, Anonymous Tercüman Yazmalar? No. 361, S?hhatî Çelebi’s Menâk?b-? Mükeyyifât-? Âlem, Anonymous Hikâyât-? Mükeyyifât-? Âlem, Anonymous Muhâleme-i Mükeyyifât) areevaluated in terms of both the disputants and how these debates ended up.This article attempts to present the results reached as a result of these evalutions.
