Mythology and legends are the most important sources of Divan poetry. The Divan poets were especially influenced by Persian mythology, and they included mythological figures of Iranian origin in their works. The Persian monarchs of ?ehnâme origin became comparison materials for the Ottoman sultans, and such persons were especially mentioned in the kasides. The heroes of the legendary love stories were also used as comparison materials for lover and loved in Divan poetry. It is seen that the Divan of Necâtî Bey, which constitutes the subject of this study, is also woven with mythological and legendary persons. The evaluation of Necâtî Bey’s Divan in terms of mythological and legendary persons will reveal in what context the mythological and legendary persons are used in Divan poetry of the 15th century.
