Namik Kemal is one of the poets and authors of the first generation of Tanzimat period. He has penned agreat many literary works in the genres of verse and prose. He has gained a reputation as a poet of ‘homeland’ and ‘freedom’ in Turkish literature. In addition to Hurriyet newspaper which was published and his articles on freedom which was penned, his poetry which has been gained to Namik Kemal the ‘freedom poet’ fame is Ode to Freedom with short and famous name and Ottoman Bravery and Humanitarian Heroism (Besâlet-i Osmâniyye ve Hamiyyet-i nsâniyye) with the long and the real name. Some academics and writers in Turkish literature have written articles and have penned analyses on this famous qasida, but each of this articles has certain shortcomings. Therefore, this article, titled Namik Kemal’s Ode to Freedom and Its Analysis is taking over and is analysing again in a larger format this poetry consisting of thirty-on verses. This long article has sections such as the Introduction, a-Qasida’s Name, b-the Writing of Qasida, c-Plan in Qasida, dThe Analysis of ‘Ode to Freedom’, e-Effects in Turkish Literature of Qasida, Conclusion and Bibliography. Purpose of this article is to analysis again Namik Kemal’s Ode to Freedom in the academic level, and is to remind to our youngs that is the guarentee of future, that is those who lost their homelands and freedoms in many part of the world as a result of of the interest of superpowers and their local collaborators, and that is the important of a sense of patriotism and liberty in such an environment.
