The aim of the study is to determine the Chinese written expression class requirements of undergraduate Chinese students. In line with the purpose of the study, a needs analysis question was applied to students studying in Chinese undergraduate departments, a focus group meeting was held with graduates of Chinese undergraduate departments, and a semi-structured interview was held with the lecturers of the field. Through these studies, the expectations and needs for the Chinese written expression class were determined and suggestions were offered. The participants of the study consist of 85 Turkish students, nine graduates, and four teaching staff. According to the results, the writing teaching approach that best suits the expectations and needs of students and lecturers is ‘process-genre oriented approach’.
