This study was conducted to explore the needs of families who have children with mild mental retardation continuing inclusive education. In this study, which Family Needs Assessment Tool was administered, the parents of 96 mildly mentally retarded children who take service in 11 special education and rehabilitation centers operated by social workers for minimum 10 years in districts of Ankara (Yenimahalle, Çankaya, Etimesgut, Sincan, Elmada? and Polatl?) were interviewed. In this study, the relationship between the average scores of family needs assessment tool and the variables related to some descriptive characteristics of families and the educational status of the child were evaluated. The study has shown that more than half of the families took part in the study need financial support for their children’s treatment, their special education and their care. It was found that the majority of the families need further information about how to handle their children’s behavioral problems, which skills to be gained by them in growth process, which educational institutions to utilize at present, and the social institutions they can utilize in the future and information about their children’s situation in the future. In the statistical analyses of the data, as well, it was found that mothers and fathers had given similar responses to family needs assessment tool. It was also found that the family needs they had stated were consistent, however, the educational status of mothers and their average score of family needs assessment tool and the average scores of their information needs subscale were found to be significantly different. It was found only fathers scores of variables such as social support, monthly income, occupation in financial needs subscale were different from average scores of the scale whereas only mothers had different scores for the residence ownership status variable than the average scores of the scal
