Nasaf is one of the great Turkish scholars and has an important place in the HanafiMaturidi tradition. At the outset of this study, the author’s life and scientific activities are examined. Then, Nasaf’s manuscript, Bayanu’lMazahib, is evaluated. At the same time, in the light of a book called Camiu Ihtilafi’l-Mazâhib written by an anonymous author and Nasaf’s other works, the way that Nasaf organizes and classifies the Islamic sects and divisions is put forth for the first time in this study. The manuscript which sets an example of Hanifi-Maturidi firaq tradition involves important information about the seventy-three sects. Analyses of the works of Bayanu’l Mazahib and Camiu Ihtilafi’l-Mazâhib are also performed in terms of methodology and content.
