France’s desire to change Europe’s internal balances in the late 18th century leaded to changes to The European States’ relations with each other . However, The Ottoman Empire came close to Russia against France. Beginning from the the early 19th century, all the stones were turned over in Europe due to the effect of the nationalism movement. Nationalism movement also affected the nations of The Ottoman Empire who lives in the Balkan territories. One of these was Serbians. Serbians revolted againist The Ottoman Empire wih The Great Serbian Empire utobias, entered into relations with The European States and sought help from them. Russia gave the greatest support for independence of Serbia. Policy of Russia, who influenced Serbians as a descendant of the Orthodox- Slavic race, also affected the policies of the other European States in the region. Particularly England wanted to destroy Russia’s influence on Serbians. The Ottoman Empire opposed any kind of foreign interventions. However they had to renew some of Serbia’s privileges upon demand of The European States. Political debates of The Europan States in the region, and the tense relations between The Otoman Empire and Russia leaded recognition of Serbia as an independent state in the Berlin Treaty of 1878
