This study was carried out in order to determine the attitudes of parents towards sport and physical education lessons, whose children start to primary school. A “personal information form” and “attitude scale” were applied to parents of 1st class students at primary school. Mann Whitney-U and Kruskal Vallis tests were used in statistical process. The scale is the one composed of four subdimensions as “perceptual,” “functional,” “support” and “importance”. Parents' attitude scale attitudes towards physical education lessons were high in perceptual dimension and low in other subscales. This suggests that parents' attitudes toward physical education are negative. There were no significant difference determined between the attitudes toward participation of children to physical education lesson according to gender of parents (p>0,05). In our research, there was a significant difference according to age groups of parents in attitudes except perceptual sub-dimension (p0,0125). Among the scores obtained by parents according to participation status to physical exercise, there were significant differences determined in perceptual, support and importance dimensions and total scores (p<0,05). The ones, who do physical exercise, have more positive scores than who don’t. It was understood that the children of parents whose children start to primary school, have generally negative attitudes toward participation to physical education lessons. The attitudes of parents in the 20-30 age group towards physical education lessons are more favorable than those in older ages. The ones, who do physical exercise, have more positive attitude scores.
