The realization of the industrial revolution and consequently the increase of the population has brought about many socioeconomic and socio-cultural changes in the historical development of the cities. In these settlements, the changes caused by the population increase have enabled many negative developments. One of these developments is the destruction of historical areas. The adversities caused by the rapid increase in the destruction of the cities have led to attempts to preserve the historical value and this situation has become an increasingly urgent issue. The concept of “conservation ini, which took its place in urban planning as the solution of the negative situation that arose as a result of the development of technology with industrialization, is seen as a response to the negative changes and transformations experienced in urban spaces. This approach can contribute to raising awareness of ecology and environmental protection, and providing the opportunity to live in a conscious and healthier environment. As in all cities of the world, conservation projects are being tried to find solutions to various urban problems in the cities of our country in recent years. One of these solutions is the pedestrianization approach in urban areas. The aim of this study; Trabzon Esentepe Neighborhood (Arafilboyu), which is one of the historical places of the city, is evaluated for pedestrianization in line with urban conservation approaches and criteria
