Today’s Prizren, the second largest city of Kosovo, was taken under Ottoman rule at Mehmet (II)’s time. After Ottoman conquest a new administrative structure was established at the province and Prizren became her central district. Prizren quickly became a typical Ottoman city with the help of Moslim foundaitons and the growing Muslim population. Main purpose of this research is to find out population, taxes, settlement, foundaitons, social structure and production units in Prizren at 16’th century. Main sources of the research is Tahrir Daftars, additionally muhimme records and vakfiyya’s are also used.
