It’s argued that media can play a constructive or destructive role during local and international conflicts. Mass communication tools can provide the information to audience about how they should take stand in times of crises. Media can adopt a unifying discourse or can play a divisive and destructive role by reinforcing the identitiy of communities. Based on the protracted social conflict theory of Edward Azar, this research aims to reveal how Lebenese media contributes the sustainability of the conflict and continuity of current power structure in Lebanon. It’s argued in this paper that chosen traumas play an important role for constructing collective identities and creating the “other” on the media.
