The aim of this study is to evaluate reading habits and the functions of libraries in multicultural Balkan societies based on the literature. The common view of various disciplines with regard to the concept of multiculturalism, which expresses the coexistence of several cultures, is that this is an inevitable fact in today's world and that we are evolving into social structures growing in diversity day by day. In a globalizing world, it is almost impossible for a homogeneous society to exist because of the different ethnicities and societies leading lives that are connected, increasing and strengthening communication channels, and the minimization of the local characteristics of the economy. By contributing to the people's language, education, personal development, values, socialization, and communication, reading habits undertake important tasks in the developments of multicultural societies. Likewise, libraries, which are important contributors to the individual's educational, linguistic, cultural, intellectual development, lifelong learning, and socialization, can be stated as vital tools for institutions, in this context, and for intercultural dialogue that pave the way for intercultura l harmony with their adequate equipment, materials, environments, resources, and modernist/innovative services that are appropriate formulticultural structure.
