In this article I shall compare and contrast the Ottoman thinkers’ ideas about Wahhabism with Ahmed Cevdet Pasha’s. While reading sources related to Wahhabism, one should not overlook that Wahhabism is not a religious revivalist movement. Even for Cevdet Pasha, Wahhabism is also a political movement, they declared a jihad against the Ottoman. The article concludes that the Ottoman thinkers almost every time mention the same ideas with Cevdet Pasha in this subject. Their consideration about Wahhabism is based on the Ahmed Cevdet Pasha’s Tarih-i Cevdet.
