This article deals with a comparative study of the selected group of Turkish and German color idioms that contain the following colors: black, grey, green, yellow, red, blue and white. The first part of the article focuses on specific features of idioms, also the use of the term equivalence and his four categories in comparative idiom studies. The second practical part is devoted to the analysis and comparison of Turkish and German color idioms from their cultural and symbolic points of view. The compared idioms are divided into the categories according to the level of their equivalence in both languages.
