Historical buildings, one of the important components of cultural heritage, carry references reflecting the socio-cultural and
economic life of the period to which they belong. Unable to respond to the changing lifestyles, abandoned historical buildings disappear
in the crowd of the rapidly growing city and enter the process of disappearance by remaining idle for many years. Re-functionalizing
these structures for preservation and moving them to the future is important both for the sustainability of the cultural heritage and for
the efficient use of existing resources. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the changes that a historical building has undergone upon
ensuring its sustainability through reuse, and Ta?han, located in Samsun city center, was determined as the study area. In the study,
literature review, archive research and on-site detection studies were carried out. It has been observed that the number and diversity of
the building and the original relations between the spaces were changed, and landscape arrangements were made in its close vicinity.
As a result, the building is presented as a meeting, learning and teaching center for the benefit of the society and it is clear that it will
contribute to the transfer of knowledge between the past, present and future.
