RURAL CONSTABULARY IN CYPRUS FROM OTTOMAN TIMES TO CONTEMPORARY DAYS

Securty and collecting agricultural taxes from the rural area, have been applied with almost same law’s during last twocenturies in Cyprus. From 1878 to 1932 British authorities kept the Ottoman rules as thay were, use them and mentioned that “the rural administration system of the Ottoman, was almost excellent.” However, the first British law about the rural security system, had been declared during 1932 but the changes with the Ottman one, were only on the terms for example, “Kaimakam” was changed to “Commisioner”, “kaza” was changed to “district” etc. System was the same system. The laws about the rural security have being contuning for the last three hundred years in Cyprus at the both sides.
