SALIENT SIGNS IN LETTER MUSIC NOTATION OF NÂYÎ OSMAN DEDE, KANTEMİROĞLU AND KEVSERÎ

In this study, initially the studies have been done on the sections where music notation was used in Nâyî Osman Dede's Book, Kantemiro?lu Edvar? and Kevserî Mecmuas?. Pitch arrangement which used in recording the instrumental pieces and other signs were examined. Secondly, comparative analysis have been made between pitch arrangement and signs obtained from five instrumental pieces which located in Nâyî Osman Dede's Book and letter music notation used by Kantemiro?lu and Kevserî. In conclusion, there are many differences between letter music notation used by Nâyî Osman Dede and Kantemiro?lu and Kevserî. In addition, it is seen that the salient signs which located in Kantemiro?lu Edvar? ve Kevserî Mecmuas? are invented by Nâyî Osman Dede. The measures appeared in these signs are translated into Western notation according to Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek system and the measures of instrumental pieces available in Nâyî Osman Dede's Book are presented in comparative tables.
