This study has been conducted to scrutinize the levels of understanding of fairplay in the sportspeople playing football in amateur clubs in the province of Karaman and determine whether their understanding of fairplay differentiates in line with the demographic properties or not. The population of the study is constituted by the sportspeople playing football in amateur clubs in the province of Karaman. A questionnaire was applied to 219 amateur footballers. The research is a descriptive qualitative research method. The personal information form developed by the researcher, the Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientations Scale developed by Vallerand, Briere, Blanchard, and Provencher and adapted to Turkish by Sezen-Balç?kanl? Do?an (2010), and the Self-confidence Scale developed by Ak?n (2007) were used for the study to achieve its objective. In the analysis of the data, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were conducted as the distribution upon the One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test appeared as nonparametric In conclusion of the study, it was determined that the amateur footballers taking part in it had high-level understanding of fairplay in the score averages of the total points and the points of the subcategories of respect for social norms, rules, and administration; responsibility; and respect for the opponent; and that while no significant difference was apparent in some of the demographic properties, significant differences were observed in some others
