Traditional clothing which are an important and rich case being involved in cultural heritage are one of the most important bridge fastening histories of nations to their future by varying on life styles in traditional cultures. Traditional clothing, underwear, worn under outer clothing is the garment featured culture and gives an aesthetic look to the body. Unfortunately those underwears are wearing off because of not being documented enough with a scientific systematic or the method required by clothing techniques.
The purpose of this study is to research Konya city traditional women underwear of women in terms of branch of cloth art and to determine the characteristics of the extant specimens and to document. In line with this project, the cloth undershirt, k?vratma undershirt, the inner flannel, s?kma (which acts as bras clothes), Tikolta (petticoat), nightgown and inner pants which are the traditional women underwears in Konya’s private collections were included in the study and these garments were investigated by using the observation vouchers carriying the features of traditional women underwears.
This study is very important to promote the cultural values going down to present and future generations as each generation brings this tradition of clothing to the present by following the previous generation in traditional life.
