The writers of this era on one hand wrote new works with the narrating possiblities of this new genre and on the other hand they made theoratical disscussions about this new genre and about its new narrating styles. Nam?k Kemal and Ahmet Mithad Efendi are the prominent names of this disscussions. The aim of this study is to put forward what kind of a meaning the novel had for Nam?k Kemal and Ahmet Mithad Efendi depending on their theoratical views about this new genre.
