Inconsistency means that contradictory, incoherent and words are different from each other. In terms of scientific works, inconsistency is a major mistake that arises from the incompatibility between two elements which have the same features in a work. These errors are seen in tafsir works as well as in many other works. It is possible to encounter in tafsir books some conflicting, incompatible, inconsistent informations and comments. There are several reasons for this. The most important reason of these mistakes is carelessness. It is not easy to keep attention and reasoning on top level for many years in the writing of tafsir. Under the influence of new developments also leads to inconsistency. The mufassir have to be vigilant every time and he must have the acute mind, memory, and reasoning to avoid inconsistency. In this essay, some examples of inconsistencies in tafsir books are examined and its probable causes (of these inconsistencies) are investigated. It is aimed to create awareness about consistency in tafsir.
