In the recent years, there is a steady increase in the amount of time people spent for sports due to the extra amount of disposable income and free-time people have, along with raised awareness in sports, partly as a rewsult of the studies outlinig health benefits of regular exercising. Setting aside the individuals that perceive exercising as a life-style, sports tourism includes people travelling for a sporting event, even though they do not participate in any sports activities. This study targets to outline the potential of Giresun province for the incoming active sports tourism participants in particular. When doing so, it aims to maximize the use of limited previous studies and expects to present current tourism portlofio and potential of the region.
