Temirkul Umotaliyev known as Kyrgyz poet and patriot of his country lived during the II world war period. As in every poem, signs take important place in Umotaliev’s poems as well. Signs that are constituted of signifier and signified are alsodistinguished as linguistic and non -linguistic signs. Language signs belong to the field of modern linguistic analysis. Language signs which take an importance place in Turkish and World literature are mostly encountered in the poems rather than in genres like novels and stories. Poets, in order to convey their feelings and thoughts effectively, whether consciously or subconsciously involve these signs in their poems. These signs help to make these poems special and give a different perspective to them. This study aims to introduce Temir kul Umotaliyev and his world of poetry as well as to analyze prominent signs from his poems. ?n this study information about Umotaliyev’s life, his literary activity and information about semiotics is given. 50 poems selected from the published books of Te mirkul Umotaliyev were examined and the prominent signs were analyzed; examples from the poems were also provided. This studyalso aims to introduce Temirkul Umotaliyev’s poetry in Turcology of Turkey and make contribution to the field of semiotics
