?er’iyye registers, considered as crucial resources of Ottoman Empire history, provides valuable information on social and economic history through tereke notebooks involved. Those notebooks are regarded as the only reliable resources for especially the family research. The tereke registers on the movable and immovable inheritings can be used to deduce valuable information on the socio-economic features of the region where they were written. Due to this importance, the current study aimed to explore the social life in the Gebze depending on the ?eriyye registers originally stored in Topkap? Palace Archive and registered as 8386 microfilm number at National Library. We hope that the current study shed light to the social history of the Gebze County belonged to Üsküdar province.
